Bon Voyage Roger!

After 34 years in the education business, Roger is calling it quits!...a complete, totally massive final sale....lasting 'til the end of June!

All sales final.....he's closing the doors.....no really....because he's got some new doors to open.....behind door #1: starting on July 1....the door to his private deck on a beautiful Mediterranean Cruise......and to avoid the "I sure miss you guys" blahs of September (ya right) Roger will be heading off on another cruise...this time Hawaii!!

Please join us in wishing Roger bon voyage as he trades his familiar spot at Surrey Connect for a deck chair, or two. We'll be launching ol' Roger the Codger off at our year end staff party, but we also wanted to invite past colleagues to participate in some online memories and well wishes.

Take a few moments....to browse....and contribute......because he really means it this time......absolute final sale!...no backing out now (cruise is booked).......everything (including Roger) must go!

To add a post, you need to sign in to your google account (or create one) and go to your "blogger dashboard" and select new post for this blog. You first need to be invited as a blogger author (using your work/contact email) Need help? contact Mark Avery (work # 592-7275)

In addition to writing a message to Roger, there is also the option to insert a pic(any old photos?) by clicking the picture tool on the toolbar when you create a new post...And hey, if you want to get even more creative you can insert a video....who knows, probably mostly written posts but we do have the technology available :)

If you know anyone that would like to add a post and hasn't already been invited as a blog author then let me know and I will do so.

Roger,

It only seems like yesterday - okay... maybe like last year... well... its been a while ;-) that I was a student sitting in the back of your class at William Beagle Jr. Sec. ... thank you for your caring guidance and support.

From there our paths crossed again at GP. You welcomed me into the Science Department and helped a young teacher get started on a new career. Thank you for your friendship and mentorship.

And from there our paths crossed a few more times at various schools as you supported our Hospital Homebound students. Thank you for the continuity and professionalism you provided to our students and staff...

And finally our paths crossed again this last year at Surrey Connect. Thank you for another warm welcome to another school and for your wise and calm leadership and support. Surrey Connect students have been exceptionally fortunate to receive your wisdom and expertise as they navigate through the world of Distributed Learning.

Congratulations on your retirement Roger! Enjoy time spent with family and friends. We wil be thinking of you as you embark on new adventures... send us photos - visit often!

Where has all the time gone. It seems like yesterday we were working on the same staff at Guildford Park.
I remember seeing your at the Surrey Arts Centre doing Gilbert and Sullivan and hope you are going to continue with this in your retirement.
Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours - probably coming back to TOC, so may see you again in a different roll.

Roger,

Congratulations on wrapping up such a successful career and moving on to the next phase. It seems like yesterday, we first met in that prep room at Matheson. One of the many courses that you were responsible for back then was Socials 8 ...maybe 9 as well – not everyday stuff for a senior Chemistry teacher. In those days, you were working out of that cubby hole of an office where Surrey Connect began with Lynn, Jeff, Glenn, Helen Hutton, Tracy Yearsley and a few other souls. Good times.

I'll miss the sage like presence and common sense that you bring to the office. You have a gift for putting things into perspective. The tech tips and care that you put into online education will be sorely missed. Your commitment to students and education is really commendable. I remember the trip we all took to Calgary a few years ago; seeing you on the computer being so active with the students who were back in BC – that was an inspiration for all of us.

I'm guessing the next phase of life will include some trips to warm and exotic locations. When you're in Oahu this September, be sure to stop by at Waimea Bay for me (pictured)…I know you'll be fully enjoying the islands. Your great spirit has served you well during your career with the Surrey School district. I know that you'll carry that great spirit into retirement and make good use of the added free time with friends and family. Mahalo for all of the help you've provided me…all the best to you and the family.

Off and sailing!

Roger,

It's been great working with you over the years. I've really appreciated your willingness to drop everything to help me with a webct issue or to discuss some science issue. Your exurberance this year has been contagious and prompted me to make some post-retirement plans also! I hope to stay in touch by attending some of your shows! I'll be looking for the pink hair (a little iphone magic!). All the best to you and MaryAnn.

Best Wishes!

Roger,
I was looking forward to sharing the sunny, southern side of DEC with you next year! Alas, you will actually be out enjoying the sun and seas as you "sail" into retirement!
I wish you all the best as you "cruise" into your new life!
All the best,
Brooke
Wow, what a lucky guy you are Roger !

Continued blessings to you and your family.
